Our Circular Business Model
Miljø Norge has developed the world’s first production line for the reuse of fire extinguishers. Through our technology and processes, we demonstrate that the circular economy can be both environmentally and economically profitable.
Our solution represents Best Available Treatment (BAT) for managing this type of waste and sets a new standard for how resources can be conserved, reused, and returned to the cycle.

Economy
The Circular Economy as a Profitable Choice
For a circular economy to work in practice, it must create value for everyone involved. The products must be attractive to customers, profitable for retailers, and economically sustainable for us—those responsible for collection, reuse, repair, and material recycling.
As Stein Erik Hagen stated after the 2007 Davos meeting:
“Environmental protection will only gain attention when there’s money in it.”
We share the view that sustainable solutions must be economically attractive to have broad impact.
Today, the circular economy is becoming a natural part of the business world. Through our model, we have identified several product groups that are suitable for reuse, repair, material recovery, and recycling. The goal is to keep materials in a circular cycle for as long as possible and to reuse the value in the raw materials.
We consider it achievable to recover or return up to 95 percent of raw materials to new cycles, so that valuable resources can be reused in new sustainable products.

Footprints and Handprints
A climate handprint is about the positive difference we can make through our actions. Sometimes it’s necessary to leave a small climate footprint in order to create a larger climate handprint. At Miljø Norge, this means working toward solutions that extend the lifespan of products and contribute to a more sustainable use of resources. The goal is not to avoid all footprints, but to create a handprint that makes a positive difference over time.
Recycling Fire Extinguishers
Collaboration Creates Circular Solutions
To conserve our resources, products must be used for as long as possible and recycled when they reach the end of their useful life. Through collaboration, materials can be reused, the need for new raw materials is reduced, and less ends up as waste.
This also applies to fire extinguishers. A used or expired fire extinguisher is a valuable raw material that can be recycled and used in new products. That is why it is important to take fire extinguishers to an approved recycling facility when they can no longer be used.
We partner with recycling companies such as Norsk Gjenvinning, Franzefoss, Ragn Sells, and Stena Recycling to ensure that used fire extinguishers are collected and recycled safely and efficiently. Together, we contribute to better resource utilization, less waste, and a more circular economy.
